Antique Crystal Bowl Repair Broken Glass Foot

This bowl had a place of honor on grandmas dinning room table for over four decades .  There  it sat  with a stack of pennies taking the place of the missing foot. Grandmas birthday is coming up and wouldn’t it be nice to get the bowl repaired .  The local antique  dealers  and glass shops said it couldn’t be repaired .  What they should have said is they can’t repair it and they don’t know any one who can.

Missing Glass Leg

Cut glass bowl with a missing foot.   The leg broke off and was missed placed over forty years ago .

First step in the repair process to remove what was left of the broken leg on the cut crystal bowl.

By casting a mold of one of the good  glass legs I was able to make a new glass foot .

We were able to give grandma her pennies back after bonding the new foot to the bottom of the antique glass  bowl

The local “experts ”  got it wrong .  It  can be restored .  The crystal repair projects I work on now come from all over the world.

Crystal repair is now high tech with the use of UV adhesives and high temp molds .  Antique  cut glass bowls like this one are repairable . Crystal repair has come a long way in the last thirty years .

The antique broken glass cruet needed restoration.  This one came  from a set that has a beautiful sterling silver holder.  First  I cleaned  the inside .

American brilliant cut glass punch bowl and pedistal with minor chips on the saw tooth was sent to me for repair. This bowl stands two feet tall and is a very valuable piece of crystal. It could be a piece cut crystal  made by LIBBY but I look for a signature but wasn’t able to find one. I polished the chips on the teeth and it was a work out because this is a heavy  crystal bowl. The crystal bowl and pedistal just set on one another.

Broken Crystal Vase

Joe emailed he had a Waterford Crystal vase that was a wedding present to his parents and the foot was broken and missing pieces.  Can I fix it ?  Yes  send it . He sent the vase from Resto Va.

The vase came in safe and sound. Joe followed the shipping instructions. My job make it new again.  I removed the old broken foot and found a replacement foot. A simple foot transplant and all you need are flowers.

Antique Glass Repair- broken stopper

An antique glass decanter with a broken stopper was brought in for repair. The stopper broke off many years ago and was lost. The owners still had the silver top to the stopper, but a new glass bottom had to be made. I started with a glass rod a little larger than the neck of the decanter. I ground the end of the glass rod to fit the neck of the decanter. I made a stem on top of the stopper through heat and manipulation. This was fitted in to the silver top. The other chips on the bottle were left alone because they all had a story to go with them.

Starting with a solid glass rod I shape the end .

Crystal Repair cut glass lamp repair

This lead glass lamp sat on the night stand for decades before it was accidentally broken into pieces. The cut glass pattern on this crystal lamp help hide the glass restoration. There were some minor pieces missing, but we were able to discretely fill those areas. Crystal repair has greatly improved with the new generation of ultra violet cured adhesives that don’t yellow, and are to provide a permanent fix.

Walking in the dark first you stub your toe then you hear the lamp falling to the floor. I can fix it . This Waterford Hurrican Lamp had a big chip I ground and polished out.  Chipped Waterford is a good part of my business. You have to fix your Waterford Crystal . Can’t repair a stopper that is missing . So I designed two stoppers and my cleint pick the one she liked best. I ground a glass rod to fit the perfume bottle.Then found a cute little prism to act as the handle. Last was thing to do was make the new dauber and attach it to the stopper . This repaired crystal perfume bottle is ready for the stinky stuff.  Antique glass repair is very rewarding.In all the years I have been restoring crystal perfume bottles and stoppers this is the smallest and nices one. The sterling silver top makes it.
