Cut Glass Compote Repair
Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Antique Glass Repair, Broken glassware, Glueings | Comments Off on Cut Glass Compote RepairThe antique crystal compote was broken the foot and the bottom of the bowl. There were cracks on the bottom of the bowl were the foot had been attached. I had to drill out the cracks to prevent them from cracking any further. The bowl portion of the compote needed a new bottom so I could attach a new foot.

Thursday, July 16th, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Broken glassware, Waterford Crystal, Waterford Crystal Repair | Comments Off on broken waterford letter openerCrystal letter openers take a beating. Its very common for the handles to break. This Waterford letter opener broke off flush with the metal ring. I drilled out the old broken glass inside the metal ring and make a new glass stud . Then I attached the rest of the handle. Ready to open the bills.

Customer Testimonials – Broken Glass Vase Repair
Sunday, July 12th, 2009 Posted in Testimonials | Comments Off on Customer Testimonials – Broken Glass Vase RepairThe story goes the vase was a wedding present to his parents. It was sent to me with the hope of repairing a memory.
The crystal vase had a broken foot and the pieces were lost years ago. The cut glass vase got a new foot and now it just needs flowers.
Hi Marc,
Excellent work! I can’t believe you somehow managed to transform the fragments I sent into this beautiful piece of crystal. The new base seems to be a perfect match for the pattern on the vase.
Thanks,
Joe

Venitian Glass Figurine Restoration
Monday, July 6th, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Blowen Glass Replacements, Broken glassware, Glass Sculpture Repair | Comments Off on Venitian Glass Figurine RestorationThis glass lady came to the United States in the 1950’s and has been broken a long time. Its a long boat ride from Venice Italy to the states.
I can repair the foot or make a new one. The cutomer wants the foot repaired first and if that doesn’t look good I will replace her foot and her mates.

Glass Bowl large chip
Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Chipped Glass Repair, Chipped Glassware, Waterford Crystal Repair | Comments Off on Glass Bowl large chipThis Waterford Crystal bowl has a very large chip in it . Repairing this chipped glass bowl will take some time. I will use a diamond saw to cut it down. Then I will polish the top.
A bit shorter but still a beautiful crystal bowl

Venetian Glass Repair
Thursday, June 18th, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Antique Glass Repair, Glueings | Comments Off on Venetian Glass RepairThese glass figurines came to me to be repaired . Most of the pieces were there but I did have to make a hand for the man. Glass restoration like this is fun because the change is dramatic. Venetian Glass Figurines can be restored to look like new.

glass repair testimonial
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Broken glassware, Broken Stem, Chipped Glass Repair, Testimonials, Waterford Crystal Repair | Comments Off on glass repair testimonialI am writing the following to attest to the great skill of the Bruening Glass Works, Inc. personnel. Several months ago my wife, while filling a Waterford Crystal vase with clean water, accidently tapped the base of the vase against the sink. The base separated from the body of the vase and sustained a substantial chip when it landed in the sink. We immediately called the jewelry store from where the vase was purchased to ask about its repair. They referred us to an outfit in Los Angeles, CA. We were told to send an email with pictures, and we would be instructed on how to proceed. Several months and six emails later I still had not heard a word from the California outfit. So, I did a goggle search for Waterford Crystal repair and the Bruening Glass Works, Inc. was one of the first entries. Being there were some nice testimonials, I emailed Marc at Bruening Glass. He responded immediately, and based upon our conversations (both email & telephone) we shipped our vase to him. In all honesty, we did not expect that much of anything could be done — we just wanted the vase to stand upright & hold flowers. We had written it off as far as it looking really nice ever again. We were extremely pleased and surprised when the vase was returned to us a couple of weeks later. Knowing what March had told us about the repair, we knew it would be a little shorter than when it was new (the broken parts had to be ground down a bit). Other than that, there was no evidence of any repair work. As far as we are concerned the vase is as good as new — the work is unbelievably good!!! In short, please do not hesitate to enlist the services of Bruening Glass Works, Inc. The craftsmanship is superb, its prices are reasonable, and the service is top-notch.
Thanks Marc for doing such remarkable work on an impossible repair.

Waterford Crystal Repair
Saturday, May 16th, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Testimonials, Waterford Crystal Repair | Comments Off on Waterford Crystal RepairBroken Waterford can be rpaired like this large cut glass vase with a cracked crystal stem. I ground smooth the broken parts and polished them. The foot had a large chip and it was deep into the glass. I would have to make the foot a little thinner . This ment grinding the entire bottom and polishing it.

Broken glass candlestick gets repaired
Tuesday, May 12th, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Antique Glass Repair, Crystal Candlestick repair, Glueings, Uncategorized | Comments Off on Broken glass candlestick gets repairedThe age old question of whether hiring a professional to make a repair or attempting to do it yourself is timeless. In this case, I was able to repair the original damage, and fix the damage from the attempted repair, as well. The old glue had yellowed, and the super glue finger prints needed to be removed. This kind of glue may be able to stick a man to a steel beam, but it won’t repair a delicate glass candlestick. Super glue is the wrong adheasive for glass. By letting the candle burn too low the candle cup was cracked. This is a common repair, and easy for me to do- send it to a professional.
