Crystal Repair Sent from Chicago, Illinois – Stopper Repair
Wednesday, August 19th, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Stopper Repair | Comments Off on Crystal Repair Sent from Chicago, Illinois – Stopper RepairIn this before and after scenario, our client had reached out from Chicago, Illinois seeking to repair this treasured piece. A question we often get is “can it even be repaired?” In this case, we weren’t able to salvage the stopper that had come with the bottle. When it came down to it, the broken stopper wasn’t worth fixing.
The good news is that we have the ability to replicate new pieces in our workshop. I made a new stopper using the old broken stopper for a pattern. Complete with the ball on the end.

I repaired this Antique Glass Chandelier using white cloth covered wire. A little hard to find but worth the time . I like keeping things original when I can. I would have liked to repainted the candle sleeves they look dirty to me compaired to the new wire. Gramas gone now but the antique glass chandelier is repaired and back at work.

antique glass repair millefiori bowl
Wednesday, August 5th, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Antique Glass Repair, Broken glassware, Glueings | Comments Off on antique glass repair millefiori bowlThe term millefiori is a combination of the Italian words “mille” (thousand) and “fiori” (flowers)[1]. A. Pellatt (in his book “Curiosities of Glass Making”) was the first to use the term “millefiori”, which appeared in the Oxford Dictionary in 1849. The beads were called mosaic beads before that time. While the use of this technique long precedes the term millefiori, it is now frequently associated with Venetian glassware.
Antique glass repair of a venetian bowl . This antique glass millefiori bowl had a broken foot that needed repair. Because of the colorfull design the glass repair is perfect. This is a very hard bowl to make. It take a vert good glass blower to make a MILLEFIORI bowl. Lets fill it with pasta.

Broken glass candlestick gets repaired
Tuesday, May 12th, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Antique Glass Repair, Crystal Candlestick repair, Glueings, Uncategorized | Comments Off on Broken glass candlestick gets repairedThe age old question of whether hiring a professional to make a repair or attempting to do it yourself is timeless. In this case, I was able to repair the original damage, and fix the damage from the attempted repair, as well. The old glue had yellowed, and the super glue finger prints needed to be removed. This kind of glue may be able to stick a man to a steel beam, but it won’t repair a delicate glass candlestick. Super glue is the wrong adheasive for glass. By letting the candle burn too low the candle cup was cracked. This is a common repair, and easy for me to do- send it to a professional.

Swavorski train wreck gets repaired
Wednesday, May 6th, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Crystal Repair Pictures, Glass Sculpture Repair, Glueings, Swarovski Crystal | Comments Off on Swavorski train wreck gets repairedWhat a train wreck! This swavorski crystal train came to me in about 25 pieces. It needed to be completely reassembled and glued into place, but I had not been given a picture of the original. Reassembling this train was a like a jigsaw puzzle. The fun part was creating a something beautiful from the pieces. I consider that crystal repair at its finest.

Broken chandelier arm
Monday, April 20th, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Antique Glass Repair, Antique lamp repair, Chandelier Repair, Crystal Repair Pictures | Comments Off on Broken chandelier armThis antique crystal chandelier suffered a broken arm. These kinds of injuries happen all the time. Be careful when you move the dinnig room table so that someone doesn’t walk into the chandlier. Fortunately, broken glass arms from chandeliers are easily repaired, and they hold up very well. This is a small arm, and it is not very old. The older arms are made of solid glass without any space to run the wire, because they were originally made as candelabras.

broken glass spoon repair
Friday, March 20th, 2009 Posted in All Repair Projects, Broken glassware, Glueings | Comments Off on broken glass spoon repairSometime the worth of a piece of glass is measured in sentimental value and not dollars. This pressed glass spoon was tremendously valuable to its owner, although not in terms of dollars and cents. I was pleased to return it to it’s original condition.
