The frosted glass globe was bumped and broken. A large piece of glass  broke off and was lost. I received the broken glass globe as a pattern to make the replacement globe. I filled in were the piece was missing so I could cast a mold.

The glass was frosted and drill after it was bent. It is a lot easier to make the mold if you have all the pieces.

We need to make a couple of bobeches for a antique chandelier. The fist step is to make the crystal blanks.  We cast a mold of the old bobeche in high temp ceramic. We used that mold  to cast the class in to.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The last thing to do is drill the holes for the pins . Then hang the prisms .

The bobeche from an antique chandelier was broken during a move. It has a unique cut glass design. I was send just a small piece of the original. A mold was made of the broken piece so the new blank could be made.

During a major home restoration, the antique chandelier hanging in the foyer was damaged .  Two of the cut glass globes were broken. The first step is to make the glass blanks .  Then comes the cutting of the design .  The hard part is  matching the profile of each cutting stone .

Antique light custom make replacement globes

The broken globe was sent from Arizona . The contractor broke three globes on the job site while restoring and old court house.  I knew I could make the new globes but matching the design on the globe was going to be the challenge.

The crystal  bobeche was broken during a move.  Dad  tried to find all the piece but an up short.  Gluing the remains showed a large piece was missing.  I decided that I would make a replacement bobeche.  Filling the hole left by the missing pieces was an option but not a good one

 

Some times when doing a chandelier restoration you can’t find the replacement parts.

 

 

The first step to making a replacement bobeche is making the blank.

With the replacement bobeche complete the chandelier will hang in splendor again.

The bobeche for the antique crystal chandelier was broken and discarded.  The search was on for the replacement part.  None was found.  I made the glass  blank .  Then I  cut , polished and drilled the holes for the pins.  Sent to me from our neighbors to the north Ontario Canada.

 

This is the crystal blank and I used a diamond saw to cut off the extra.

I polished the rim and drilled the holes for the prisms.

Here is the custom made replacement bobeche for a crystal chandelier .

I was send a broken crystal bobeche from an antique chandelier. The antique glass bobeche was broken in many pieces and a couple of large pieces were missing. I cut off the part that was not broken .  I used a crystal bowl with the same design as the original bobeche to recreate the broken and missing  portion.  I needed to drill a large hole in the center and many small holes around the rim

 

 

 

 

 

I cut off the good part of the old bobeche and ground the bottom of the new bowl flat.

 

 

 

 

I drill the holes for the prism pins.

Crystal Chandelier Repair Candelabra Restoration

Right out of the basement, the antique candelabra was in total disrepair. It was removed from the dinning room and  placed in the basement .  The bronze frame work was broken in several places.  The antique wiring was fared and need to be replaced.  The globes were dirty and  badly chipped.

It had a broken center column.

Antique Glass Chandelier Repair / candelabra /crystal bobeche replacement

This antique crystal  bobeche is from a late 1700’s early 1800’s candelabra that  was electrified.  I needed to make two replacement bobeches .  The first step is to make the glass blanks.

 

Rough cutting the shape is next.

 

 

Using smoothing stones the glass is given a 400 to 600 grit finish and ready for polishing.

 

 

The replacement crystal  bobeches are marked for drilling the holes.

 

 

 

 

I also made replacement arms for this chandelier shown in the picture.    I will post picture showing the process I use to duplicate the solid crystal arms.

Repairing broken crystal parts for chandeliers is cost effective .  This antique crystal part from a chandelier was broken and a replacement was not available .  I made a new top piece to replace the broken part and used the bottom part that was still good.

 

Cut off damaged part and make new replacement piece.

Crystal Repair chandelier arm

These arms are off a antique crystal candleabra. Made in the 1700 s the wires go on the out side of the arms . There are no holes for the wires to run through. I will get pictures of the chandelier when its complete and post them .  The crystal arms were sent to me for repair from Oregon. The piece has been in the family a long time. I would love to know how it got to Oregon and when. I think it came from England.
