Repair Scratched Crystal Bowl polish out wear

Scratched Bowl

Used and abused for many years this crystal bowl had many many scratches.  It holds many memories for years it was on gramas  table .  It held keys ,coins and pins.  The question is I can restore the bowl to its beauty and shine.

How to polish out scratches from crystal ?  This bowl is an example of the process .  I made a cork wheel that fit into the bowl. I then used some 3f (FFF) pumice and bridgeport milling machine to spin the wheel.  I mix the pumice with water untill it was like a milk shake. You have to be sure not to heat up the glass while polishing .  The heat will crack the glass.  The final polish is done with a felt wheel and cerium oxide.

Daum Glass Vase repair chip

Daum  glass has a satin finish and it makes repairing chips very difficult. This vase came in with a chip on the side of one of the leaves. I polished out the chip to a shine and then had it match the satin finish.  The satin finish is coarser than the frosted on a LaLique Crystal .

LaLique Crystal broken Base

This  LaLique Crystal piece was sent to me from Florida for restoration.  The crystal base had a large chip broken off the corner.  The piece that broke off had been lost many years ago so bonding the chip back one was not an option.

By removing the entire base and making a replacement I was able to restore this glass .

The crystal plates needed to be polished.  The cloudy build up came from the dish washer.   Some times called to as sick glass.

They are for display only , but the grand kids didn’t know that.  Turn your back for a minute and you will have to send me your gable for repair.   Your honor my be a good judge but his baby sitting skill are off.

Sent to me from New York, the crystal clown needed to be reassembled .   The glass figurine needed a lot of work.  It was a present with a lot of sentimental value.   It is very important to clean off the old adhesive.

I will send it back to NY,NY after the crystal repair is complete.  The  clown and memories in tacked this beautiful keep sake will go back on display.

Antique Glass Bottle Repair

Sent from California for repair this glass bottle came out  very nice. The pieces fit together and the glass repair was a success . In the family for many years the owner remembers his mom using this bottle to water laundry before ironing.

LaLique crystal repair broken glass ring

This beautiful LaLique  crystal ring got broken.  The hard part of this repair was the fact they didn’t have any of the missing pieces. So I had to create the glass piece to fit what was left.

CRYSTAL REPAIR SWAROVSKI UNICORN BROKEN HORN

I have repaired at least fifty Swarovski Crystal unicorns over the years.  It  is very common to break the horn off.  This time the crystal horn broke off and the pieces were lost. I have  make a lot of horns ram , bull, dragon,but this was my first unicorn horn. I did not get it on the first try as seen in the picture.

After making the new horn I etched the glass .  Then I attached it to the head of the Unicorn.

Steuben Crystal Vase Repair Sick Glass Cloudy Scratched

This Steuben crystal vase was sent to me for cleaning.  I thought it was sick. ( cloudy from hard water stains) It was not sick it was scratched someone tried to clean it with an abrasive. They made it a lot worse by putting in thousands of scratches up and down in side the vase. I was able to carefully polish them out . Steuben Crystal has one of the highest lead content this is why the glass is clear.

I polished out the scratches on the inside  of the vase and then I polish out the scratches  on the bottom of the vase .

Glass repair Faberge Egg broken glass base

A beautiful red glass ” FABERGE EGG” with a broken base was sent to me for repair.  This piece was made in Russia St. Petersburg as stated on the label. The copper wheel engraving of the double eagle is the main design with a very delicate boarder on the base .

I use a matching red glass to fabricate a new base .  The engraved boarder matched the design of the Faberge Egg.  Glass restoration like this is fun. A little creative thinking and for thought the glass egg will go back on display.

This Crystal decanter  was sent for repair with the broken stopper stuck in the neck of the bottle. First remove the broken piece in the neck .
