The antique glass bottle had a broken stopper and the pieces were missing. I have some old black glass call vitolite and I used it to make a new stopper top.

 I cut off the top of  the broken glass stopper. I used a 1 1/2″ diamond  core drill and a hole in the black glass .  Inside the dill was a 1 3/8 core I used to make the new top for the stopper.

I think the bottles belongs to a witch and she has one that says eye of nuet also.

An antique crystal decanter with a broken neck came infor repair. I found a decanter with the simular shaped neck and removed it. I used the old stopper and ground and polished it to fit the new neck. The new neck is not a perfect match but darn close. This antique cut glass decanter is ready to go back to work  fill with Scotch and enjoy.  Tell a friend this type of repair is possible. Most people on seeing this broken antique cut glass decanter would say to get rid of it . This client “googled” antique glass repair and found me. I do not repair china  crystal repair is the focus of my business . I been working my craft for thrity years. I am still learning to do one thing and do it well.

I would estimate this piece was made between 1910 and 1940 . It is hand cut lead crystal and I did not find a signature on it.

Crystal Repair Sent from Chicago, Illinois – Stopper Repair

In this before and after scenario, our client had reached out from Chicago, Illinois seeking to repair this treasured piece. A question we often get is “can it even be repaired?” In this case, we weren’t able to salvage the stopper that had come with the bottle. When it came down to it, the broken stopper wasn’t worth fixing.

The good news is that we have the ability to replicate new pieces in our workshop. I made a new stopper using the old broken stopper for a pattern. Complete with the ball on the end.

 Antique crystal perfume bottles have a common problem the daubers break off.  I make the new daubers to the size of the bottle. Crystal repair like this is rewarding  but you do go home smelling like roses.

Antique Glass Repair- broken stopper

An antique glass decanter with a broken stopper was brought in for repair. The stopper broke off many years ago and was lost. The owners still had the silver top to the stopper, but a new glass bottom had to be made. I started with a glass rod a little larger than the neck of the decanter. I ground the end of the glass rod to fit the neck of the decanter. I made a stem on top of the stopper through heat and manipulation. This was fitted in to the silver top. The other chips on the bottle were left alone because they all had a story to go with them.

Starting with a solid glass rod I shape the end .

Perfume With Broken Neck

This antique glass perfume bottle had a broken neck .  I cut off the old broken glass neck and polished the bottle . Then I make a new glass neck for the perfume bottle. The antique crystal perfume bottle was as good as new. I make new stoppers and daubers for antique glass perfume bottles but making a neck is a little different.  If they had sent it to me in the first place they would not have broken the neck trying to get the stopper out. It takes patients when removing a stuck stopper.

Antique Baccarat Perfume Bottle with a stuck and broken stopper. This Baccarat Bottle from the 1920’s contains valuable perfume. First task remove perfume and store safley . Then remove stopper and repair it.  I remember coming home and  knowing grama was in the house  as I came up the drive by the smell of her perfume . The smell of roses so thick you could taste them.
