The antique cut glass cruet was missing a stopper. It’s one of four cruets that fit in a sterling ring. With out the stopper the value would be greatly diminished. I made new crystal stopper.

A pair of Antique crystal cruets with a very delicate cut pattern were sent to me for repair. The one crystal bottle was missing apart of the stopper. They sent along the top of the antique crystal stopper but the bottom had broken off and was lost. They also sent along one good antique cut glass cruet that need a stopper and one good crystal stopper.
Crystal repair like this requires some glass blowing to make the new parts.

Its a small little chip on the bottom of the stopper. Steuben makes the finest crystal in the world but they made colored glass many years ago. This is one of the old ” colored glass” Steuben pieces. They are very valuable so a small chip is well worth repairing. The repair is simple just grind the stopper down . The important part is to match the same grit size so the frosting on the glass is the right . I have been a crystal repair man for thirty years and I love glass. I get crystal sent to me from around the world and I very lucky to be able to repair so many nice pieces of glass.
Shown above is the stopper before repair.
The old Steuben glass is very valuable and very beautiful. Its one of my favorite glasses to work on.

The crystal decanter had a broken neck and they were missing pieces. The crystal repair job was going to be more than a glue job. I needed to replace the broken neck .I cut off what was left of the old one and attached the new neck. Its not a perfect match to the old neck but very close.

Good morning Marc,
I’ve finally gotten round to opening the box (major fall season home re-org project is in full swing). Your work is fantastic! I would never have known that there was ever any damage. Once I get the music box mechanism back together I’ll reassemble the decanter and send you some ‘after’ pictures. I plan to show off your work to everyone I know.
I would like your opinion on something. The half-dome well that forms the bottom of the decanter and where the music box mechanism fits was originally mirror-silvered. When I purchased the decanter some time ago the mirroring had long since been replaced with hobby silver paint. I didn’t care for how that looked so I removed the paint intending to resilver it with silver or gold mirroring once it had been repaired. Now that I see it all repaired, and with the music box mechanism all cleaned and polished and gleaming in silver and gold itself, I’m leaning towards leaving the decanter bottom unsilvered allowing the music box mechanism to show through the glass. What do you think?

From a pile of pieces come a lamp. It started with a broke ships decanter she saved for years and then she broke the base to a hurricane lamp . I used the broke Waterford Crystal ships decanter to make a new lamp base. I cut it off and polished the top . I found a piece to an old chandlier and used it along with the old top to the Waterford Hurricane Lamp. I wish I had the globe to the lamp.
Not much to look at here but with a little creative design I can be a lamp again,

This glass perfume bottle had an old style repair . They put a silver neck on top of the broken bottle and glued the stopper in. I removed the old repair and uncovered the broken and missing neck. The stopper was also broken. I made a new neck attached it to the perfume bottle . Then I ground and fit the old stopper to the new neck. It ready for some over powering rose sented perfume.

This antique glass decanter from the 1880 was in bad shape. It had a broken neck and missing pieces from the lip. The customer was skeptical that I could repair an antique cut glass decanter in such bad shape. I can waite to forward this post to him with the before and after pictures of his decanter. This is a very old and very good cut glass decanter and it would be a shame not to repair it. I cut off the broken part of the neck and then made a new neck and lip. I attach the new neck and fit the stopper. If you didn’t know it was repaired you would pour a drink and just enjoy.
Many people don’t know this type of repair is possible please email this to your friends and family. Over and over I here I didn’t know you can repair glass I put it in the trash.

One from a set of the crystal cruets got damaged . It had a broken neck and missing stopper. The repair process required making a new neck. I cut off the broken neck and made a new piece. The small decanter /cruet/ bottle was broken and the pieces were gone for years. When repairing antique glass it requires a little imagination. The best way to repair antique crystal is to just get started and made something you will learn from your mistakes . I made a lot of garbage over the years.
Saved from the scrap pile. Antique glass sets are very valuable and with the silver tray very rare. To restore this set I did a little glass blowing, a little stone engraving ( wheel work) , a little hand lapping to fit the stopper, and a little gluing.

This is very old cut glass decanter with a broken neck. Its been in the family a long time and had to be repaired . With a diamond saw I cut the broken neck off the antique cut crystal decanter. I make a piece of crystal the same shape I cut off. It needed to be a little smaller so I could grind the stopper to fit.

The antique glass bottle had a broken stopper and the pieces were missing. I have some old black glass call vitolite and I used it to make a new stopper top.
I cut off the top of the broken glass stopper. I used a 1 1/2″ diamond core drill and a hole in the black glass . Inside the dill was a 1 3/8 core I used to make the new top for the stopper.
I think the bottles belongs to a witch and she has one that says eye of nuet also.
