antique glass cruet repair
September 30th, 2009 by Marc Konys - posted in All Repair Projects, Antique Glass Repair, Broken Decanter Repair, Glueings, Stopper Repair, UncategorizedOne from a set of the crystal cruets got damaged . It had a broken neck and missing stopper. The repair process required making a new neck. I cut off the broken neck and made a new piece. The small decanter /cruet/ bottle was broken and the pieces were gone for years. When repairing antique glass it requires a little imagination. The best way to repair antique crystal is to just get started and made something you will learn from your mistakes . I made a lot of garbage over the years.
Saved from the scrap pile. Antique glass sets are very valuable and with the silver tray very rare. To restore this set I did a little glass blowing, a little stone engraving ( wheel work) , a little hand lapping to fit the stopper, and a little gluing.
