Antique glass repair vanity mirror

The glass in an antique vanity mirror was broken. The sterling silver frame was in good shape only the mirror was broken. The way I made the new mirror is called blind beveling. I bevel a piece of mrirror with out seeing the stone .  Old mirrors were beveled and then silvered  .  I don’t resilver mirrors so I have to bevel it blind. It takes some practice you have to watch the water coming of the stone and it will let you know if its going well.

I took off the retaining ring and removed the broken mirror.

Using the old mirror for a pattern I made a new beveled mirror. Its ready to be installed.
